After two weekend practices, SJax turned in a nice effort Wednesday, leaving more encouraging signs that he coud return this Sunday for the Rams’ game against the Miami Dolphins.
HIGH HOPES
No. 39 had an increased workload at his most recent practice without incident, suggesting that things are continuing to move in the right direction.
“Obviously, when you have one of your best players out five weeks it limits you,” Haslett said. “We’ve still got things to do and holes to fill, but when you get a guy like Steven Jackson back it gives you hope.”
“He took more [reps] than he has taken the last five weeks,’’ Haslett said Wednesday. “We kind of scripted out the reps that he needed to see. He’ll get a little more tomorrow based on how he feels. We’ll see how he is tomorrow.’’
At this point, nothing is certain, but if Steven is able to practice in the days leading up to game day, he could make his return.
“We’ll see how Steven is tomorrow,” Haslett said. “He’s the one that we’re not really sure about. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow and if he feels alright we’ll probably increase the load a little bit and then obviously Friday’s a little bit easier day.”
NEXT UP
Steven and the St. Louis Rams face the Dolphins at 12 p.m. CST on Sunday on CBS. SJax and Ronnie Brown would make an intriguing running back match-up for two teams that will most likely feature the ground game. The Rams are desperate for a win, but the Dolphins are still in the playoff hunt. Expect both sides to come out hungry for a W.
