The back of Steven Jackson’s uniform was noticeably different when the Rams played the Kansas City Chiefs last Friday.
No. 39 was sans dreadlocks for the first time in several years. Or so it appeared.

But don’t worry Rams fans, Steven hasn’t snipped his signature locks. No. 39 put any rumors of their demise to bed this week when he told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch of the special circumstances that forced him to tie his hair back for Friday’s game.
“I can’t believe we’re talking about this,” Jackson chuckled. “But the person that helps maintain my hair, she just had a baby. So I needed to tie it down to buy her some time to get back.”
No. 39 said the move is temporary. In fact, he didn’t expect anyone to notice the difference. He did promise they’ll be back soon enough.
“Now we have a lot pressure on her to get back,” he joked.
RAMS LIKES MIKE
This Thursday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the final preseason game of the year for St. Louis, will be a reunion of sorts for one new Ram.
Veteran wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker spent the first three seasons of his career in Jacksonville before signing with the Rams this offseason. Steven is happy to have the versatile receiver on his side now.
“I had a chance to see Mike up close and personal when we played Jacksonville a couple years ago,” SJ39 told the Post-Dispatch. “He’s a dynamic player, and he brings not only competition but credibility with being a starter in this league. He had a chance to work personally with Torry Holt for a year down in Jacksonville. He understands the art of running routes and getting open.”
